Sliced bread in film is fragile in one direction only — downward. Stack it more than afew packs deep and the bottom loaves flatten and the packaging creases, which is enough fora supermarket to reject the delivery.

The 120 mm internal depth of this crate is the control on that. It physically limits howmany packs can sit on top of one another, so the load protects itself without the driverhaving to think about it. The 658 × 553 mm plan size matches sliced-loaf packdimensions with minimal wasted space.
