Choosing a depth on the 6040 footprint
Because the footprint is fixed, the only real decision is depth — and depth is set by density, not by volume. Heavy goods fill a crate to its weight limit long before they fill it to the rim, so a shallow crate that stays liftable beats a deep one that arrives half full and too heavy to handle.
As a rough guide: 80–125 mm suits dense parts, tinned goods and documents; 170–220 mm covers most general picking and produce; 275–350 mm suits bulk and light-but-bulky loads; and anything above 400 mm is for volume goods where weight is never the constraint.
The second decision is wall type. Ventilated walls let air and moisture move and are what produce, seafood and anything washed down needs. Closed walls contain fines, keep contents clean and are what parts, retail and documents want. Both stack within the same footprint, so a mixed fleet still interlocks on the pallet.
Worth confirming before you order
