Matching a lid to a crate
Lids are sized to a footprint, not to a specific crate, so one lid fits every depth within its footprint. A 600 × 400 mm lid covers the whole 6040 range regardless of how deep the crate under it is.
That is what makes buying lids separately efficient: a pool of lids sized to your two or three main footprints will serve a much larger fleet of crates, and you only own as many as actually go out closed.
